Cologne, 24 August 2026 – For the first time, Hungarian video game development studios, brought together by Creative Hungary, will showcase on a joint stand in the business area at Gamescom. The goal of the collective appearance under the Budapest Select umbrella brand from 26 to 28 August 2026 is to elevate the international profile of the Hungarian gaming industry and draw the attention of professionals to the Hungarian business environment supporting the development of the creative industries. At the same time, it assists exhibiting studios in expanding into new export markets and building new business relationships with key players in the global gaming industry.
The video game industry has become one of the most important and fastest-growing segments of the creative economy. In Europe, the sector generates annual revenues of nearly 27 billion euros, employs over 116,000 professionals, and more than half of the continent’s population regularly plays video games.
Hungary has been an active player in this culturally and economically significant industry for four decades, thanks to a uniquely Hungarian logical and engineering mindset exemplified by the Rubik’s Cube and Gömböc, complemented by world-class artistic and storytelling expertise. As a result, Budapest-based studios are now developing internationally sought-after games based on their own intellectual property, working with leading global industry players. Hungarian motion-capture studios and animation workshops participate in creating cinematics that garner millions of views, while the country’s film industry contributes to the production of international blockbusters.
This creative ecosystem is supported by a globally competitive business environment in Hungary. A highly skilled workforce, a strong pool of university graduates, our Central European location, and advanced digital infrastructure all contribute to making Hungary an attractive destination for international creative industry investors. In addition, Hungary offers the EU’s lowest corporate tax rate, 9% – or as low as 4.5% for eligible software-related intellectual property – and operating and labour costs that can be optimised effectively.
To strengthen the international professional presence of the Hungarian gaming industry, Creative Hungary is giving four studios the opportunity to present their projects at Gamescom under the Budapest Select umbrella brand.
Established in 2018, Creative Hungary aims to support businesses in Hungary’s gaming, design, fashion, and beauty industries in establishing a presence on global professional platforms. Drawing on international best practices, it created the Budapest Select umbrella brand to provide Hungarian exhibitors with greater visibility while allowing them to retain their individual brand identities.
At the exhibition, Berries Studios is showcasing CubeColony, Kaos Lab Trash Pirates, NovaSphera Studio Elflock, and ZU Digital EverGround. Professionals and visitors can find the studios at stand C021g–D030g in Hall 04.1.

Creative Hungary
The Creative Hungary (formerly known as Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency) was founded in 2018 to support every actor in the fashion, design, furniture manufacturing, product design, interior design, game development and the beauty sector in an efficient and structured way. The Agency follows four strategic pillars: professional coordination, enhancing Hungarian brands’ availability and trade opportunities, educational development and manufacturing development. To realise these goals, Creative Hungary organises domestic events each year, such as the region’s major fashion event, the Budapest Central European Fashion Week, the Budapest Design Week, or the 360 Design Budapest exhibition, which has received international awards. Besides, they provide Hungarian creators and creative companies opportunities for participation and debuting at international professional events such as the Milano Fashion Week and the Maison & Objet design fair. Their primary tasks include strategic cooperation with professional organisations, increasing exports, and supporting Hungarian brands’ professional development with mentorship programmes.
