ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Mónika Üveges
Üveges works at the intersection of painting and sculpture. Her hybrid objects merge the visual language of design with posthuman ideas, exploring the boundaries between human and non-human, and between the natural and the artificial.
ABOUT THE EXHIBITED OBJECT
Skeletal Scenes I.
Created at the intersection of painting and sculpture, the object draws on a formal language that simultaneously evokes design objects and posthuman theories. Skin-like layers of tulle sensually unravel from chrome, space-age–inspired frames, accumulating as if in dramatic, staged scenes. As they deteriorate, the supporting skeleton is exposed, calling into question the anatomy of the human body and the autonomy of art.
