MALNA JEWELLRY

THE BRAND

Just as no two people are exactly alike, no two MALNA pieces are ever identical. Each jewel is a small sculpture, capable of forming a personal connection with its wearer — much like a plant, a tattoo, or a childhood memory. The brand’s aim is to ensure that everyone can find a piece that reflects their personality, from clean minimalism to more extravagant expression, regardless of gender or lifestyle.

For MALNA, attention to detail, empathy, and care for one another and our environment are essential values. The brand’s message is simple: beauty lies in individuality. What we may perceive as a flaw in ourselves is often what resonates most deeply with others. Wear these details as you would your jewellery — boldly and proudly.

THE COLLECTION

The aim of the collection is the preservation of value, remembrance, nostalgia, and the meeting of past and present within a contemporary context.

The jewellery collection consists of two components: recycled silver and memories of a bygone era preserved in object form.

Finding such a treasure is easier than we might think. In the modern world they appear all around us, and if we pay attention, we can rediscover them. Some have become valuable through the passage of time, or because their creators were only discovered generations later; others have already faded into obscurity. Anything can carry symbolic value: a coat button once worn by a grandfather during his military years, a coin withdrawn from circulation, a piece of fabric that was once part of a large tablecloth, or a pebble we carried home by the handful from the Danube as children.

I invited these objects into the creation of my collection. Through them, I wish to show that sometimes it is worth keeping a detached button, because its true story may only just be beginning. As part of a piece of jewellery, it begins a new life and may be passed down through generations.

That particular button became part of the silver that now surrounds it. It came loose from my grandmother’s trousers after a generous serving of cake was eaten with a silver fork. The fork and the button now begin a new life together, stepping into the world of sustainable fashion in 2025 — with a little help. From now on, they continue their journey free from the obscurity of forgetting.

My jewellery collection consists of silver rings cast from surviving pieces of old cutlery sets. I then give these small objects a new home using traditional setting techniques. The materials and methods I work with have been known for centuries; they have no true digital equivalent, and their value only increases with time.
