ABOUT THE DESIGNER
István Dukai
István Dukai is a graphic and visual artist living in Budapest. He is a leading graphic designer and art director for several European based fashion and designer brands. The basic principle of his compositions is reductionism, based on the stylization of natural elements into geometric forms and the varied ways in which these elements are combined. His art merges the sensuousness of fine arts with the complexity of architecture and the systematic approach of design.

Dukai creates these works digitally, blending them with traditional, manual printing techniques and materials. Within a single piece, the artist works with multiple materials, generating contrast and duality. This duality emphasizes the exploration of the boundaries and points of encounter between cyberspace and reality, between digital and human connections. The contrast between dark and light colors, enclosed shapes, and dense, disruptive lines dominates the works. These oppositions not only coexist, but their interaction is fundamental to the articulation of a visual language through which the artist expresses calm and agitation, freedom and confinement, life and death.
