Could you tell us a little about the “by CONTOURS” brand?
The brand specialises in the design and manufacture of bespoke sports and training apparel. We accept orders not only from individuals and duos, but also from groups, and we can also provide visual identity design if required.
We are currently undergoing a digital transformation, so our previous work and future plans will become visible in the near future.
Could you describe the workflow? For example, how many steps are involved in creating a custom competition outfit?
First, we hold a personal consultation to discuss the athlete’s programme, which will determine the style of the garment. Then we decide on the cut, colours, and embellishments, and develop the competition outfit over the course of one to five fittings. Based on the measurements, I create the base pattern and separately design the textile embellishments, sometimes even in 3D. These are then assembled by hand or using machine techniques. If required, we also apply painting techniques using brushes or airbrushing. The final stage is the application of crystals, which requires many additional hours of work.
You have been working in the fashion industry for 12 years. In your experience, what is the next generation of professionals in the sector like?
It is a very difficult and complex question, as I work on both sides of the industry – design and production – and have insight into both processes. Both sides are driven by different motivations, and the current economic situation also presents significant challenges.
What are you most proud of since the foundation of the company, and which milestones would you highlight in particular?
I am proud to have designed and produced garments for several Hungarian sports clubs. I am also proud that my work has been featured at both national and international competitions in individual, duo, and group categories. Among these, my favourite projects are those featuring Hungarian symbols and traditional motifs.
Which workshop was the most useful for you?
There were several particularly valuable workshops, including sessions on how AI can create a competitive advantage, marketing communication strategies for entering international markets, the environmental challenges facing the creative industries, and the protection of intellectual property.
In your opinion, how did the mentorship programme help you the most?
It answered many of my questions, while also drawing my attention to several important opportunities and issues that are essential for building a company. These included market expectations, international connections, trademark protection, AI tools, and environmental regulations.
How do you plan to apply what you have learned?
I am currently focusing on using AI tools, and I plan to implement additional solutions as they become relevant.
