Budapest, 9 February 2026 – On 9 February, the 17th edition of Budapest Central European Fashion Week (BCEFW) officially started, placing Budapest in the spotlight of the Central European fashion industry until 15 February with side events across the city and, in the second half of the week, with fashion shows taking place at iconic venues. The event series organised by Creative Hungary features, in addition to Hungary, designers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Slovenia, Serbia, Armenia, Romania, and Ukraine; altogether, over 40 Hungarian and international designers will unveil their 2026–2027 autumn-winter collections.

This year, BCEFW will once again bring the world of fashion to various locations across Budapest throughout the week. The side events aim to make the fashion industry accessible and enjoyable for everyone. More than fifty programmes – including studio visits, workshops, and professional talks – make it possible for everyone to become part of the experience according to their own interest. Visitors can directly discover the opportunities and values in the industry, from the creative process to conscious consumption. Creative Hungary aims to promote Hungarian designers, strengthen the international visibility of domestic and regional fashion brands, and build long-term, sustainable professional and market connections between the countries in the region.

A Dialogue Between Generations at Two Iconic Locations

The main shows will take place between 13 and 15 February at two distinct yet interconnected venues. On Friday, emerging designers’ collections will be unveiled in the Apollo Gallery. The contemporary art setting provides an appropriate professional framework for introducing the new generation. The shows are set against monumental works by painter József Gaál, adapted to the season’s colours, creating a spatial meeting point between fashion and fine art. On Saturday and Sunday, the shows continue in the iconic spaces of the Museum of Fine Arts, spotlighting collections by established Hungarian and international brands with a recognised market presence. The meeting of the illustrious environment and contemporary fashion highlights the long-term vision of BCEFW: fashion industry thinking rooted in tradition yet oriented towards the future.

Fashion Icons, International Collaborations, and Exclusive Players

On the runway, alongside the models, celebrities, muses, and exclusive guests will appear, including Vanessza Csíki, content creator; Móni Balsai, actress; Rebeka Kárpáti, content creator and actress; Réka Tenki, actress, and Janka Végvári, Miss World Hungary.

Each season, Creative Hungary invites numerous international journalists and buyers to the event, allowing them to explore the latest regional collections from the front row. Additionally, it invites renowned models and fashion industry players who have contributed to establishing the Hungarian fashion industry. Thus, Ganna Smugilova, Myra Cseh, Nelli Tombor, Krisztina Bútor, Andrea Horváth, Edina Kátai-Pál, and László Hajas will attend the shows.

The international focus of this season is underlined by the fact that the internationally acclaimed French hairstylist Kevin Jacotot oversees the professional hair concept of the shows, bringing a contemporary approach to Budapest.

Fashion Hub – Creative Experience Space and Professional Meeting Point

On Saturday and Sunday, Fashion Hub will take place in the Schickedanz Hall on the first floor of the Museum of Fine Arts, one of the most open and community-focused spaces of fashion week. Visitors can participate in presentations by young designers, creative workshops, and professional and inspirational talks that explore the social role of fashion, its generational issues, and cultural impact. Fashion Hub is also a curated design fair and professional showroom, offering specific business connections for designers and retailers.

Budapest Central European Fashion Week, running from 9 to 15 February, is open to both industry professionals and the general public, further strengthening Budapest’s role as a creative hub in the Central European region, with significance not only culturally but also economically. The event reflects on the current trends in the international fashion industry and the region’s distinctive creative resources while creating visible points of connection between designers, decision-makers, and market players.

Budapest Central European Fashion Week

Since its founding in 2018, Creative Hungary (formerly the Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency) has organised Budapest Central European Fashion Week twice a year, establishing it as the region’s premier fashion event. For many years, the event has been the number one meeting point between the broad audience, buyers, designers, influencers and domestic and international media in the region. Hungarian fashion and design industry events increase the country’s tourist attraction and national economic growth, provide visibility for Hungarian brands, and result in international orders.

Creative Hungary

Creative Hungary was founded in 2018 under the name Hungarian Fashion & Design Agency to support all actors in the fashion and design industries in an efficient and structured manner, following predetermined strategic pillars: professional coordination, enhancing Hungarian brands’ availability and trade opportunities, educational development and manufacturing development. In line with global trends, the boundaries between individual creative industries have expanded in recent years, with cross-disciplinary collaborations becoming increasingly important. In response to industry and technological changes, the Organisation’s scope of activities expanded in 2025. Today, Creative Hungary serves as the highest-level coordinating organisation of the Hungarian creative industries, encompassing the fashion and textile industries, furniture manufacturing and product design, offline and online game design, and the beauty and personal care industries. Its primary tasks include strategic cooperation with professional partners, increasing exports, and supporting Hungarian brands’ professional development through mentorship programmes. It is responsible for organising the region’s flagship fashion event, Budapest Central European Fashion Week, Budapest Design Week, and the 360 Design Budapest exhibition, which has received international awards. Additionally, it provides Hungarian creators with opportunities to participate in and debut at international professional events, including Milano Fashion Week and the Maison & Objet design fair.
